February 10th, 2013

Damn…I’ve been off the grid for too long.
This post will be an attempt to summarize the tail end of 2012.
More importantly… give you an idea of what’s to come.

Let’s pick up where I left off, in Pemby.

A typical grocery run/walk into town.

When I first moved in and walked into the garage, these were the first things that caught my eye.
I quickly learned that skiing/snowboarding, & mtb (activities that were very foreign to me) was life here…The question is… what the hell was I doing in BC anyways?
Well an old friend and classmate Shane, hooked up a helper monkey position @ FYi.

FYi is a vertical design firm on the forefront of technical apparel.

From design, to patterning, to prototyping solutions… everything was done in house. I was fortunate enough to learn from the greats.

But those 2 months just blitzed by.

and I was on the road again.

EDIT Travel Map 2012

This time across the US of A.

First stop… Seattle to visit Javor! I haven’t seen her since ’05 i think.

Then to Matt & Mandy’s place in Portland.

After catching up with Matt, I was back on the road and beelined it to Utah where I got some needed rest.

As the next couple of days were packed with a few national park explorations. Bryce National Park.

Zion National Park… Yes it just keeps getting bigger and better.

Grand Canyon North Rim… all three parks left me speechless.

Forgot to mention the entire trip I was nursing downhill mtb injuries… So after the Grand Canyon.. I made every effort to get back home quick… Fresh scabs + unrelenting heat = not good… Finally made it to my cousins new home in Michigan!

Literally a week after I got home… there was record rainfall in Toronto and surrounding areas…
With my luck… I hydrolocked my motor two blocks away from my home… Two cross country treks with no problem… a small pond that formed on a side street…I had to pull the motor and tranny.

B&C's Wedding 2

September was wedding month… awesome to see three close friends tying the knot! Congratulations Cindy & Bri!

My sista from anotha motha… Krista & Sean.

Aujourd’hui | MIA

For the past 5 months… things have been hectic. I do apologize for not posting.  BUT… not all is lost.  I have been diligently taking lots of shitty photos as I go along.  Here’s a peak at what’s been happening at home.

Garage reorg

Upstairs reorg

Full tune up… Plugs to port polishing.

Fill. Sand. Fill. Sand. Fill. Sand. Cut Edges. Roll. Cut Edges. Roll.

Kicking up dust.

Tiling and some more painting.

Shoot out to the Cape for Dena & Fred’s wedding.

Scott & Vic’s new home… and soon to be born Isabell.

Then back home to new appliances… and laid tiles

Over a 1000ft of trim.

The Cabreuva arrives!

Sibling rivalry.

I’ll end this post with Isabell.

More coming this way.

Renos | First month back.

I can’t believe so much time has passed… My apologies for not having a post in forever.
Let’s hit the rewind button for a minute.

With everything packed, I set off on my trek back home.

I wasn’t really rushing home this time around… so I decided to stop and snap a few pics…
It was just after the Canaan toll booths… I have always wanted to do it.

Morning after at Scott and Vic’s new place.  Congratulations on everything guys…
It’s an exciting time and I can’t be happier for the both of yous… eh.
btw… you should put a lift in that garage/house/awesomness.

If you’re wondering why this post was under renos… well the party has just begun.

I would like to introduce you to the master bedroom… roughly 400 sq ft of unoccupied space.
This will be my parents’ new  room… they deserve it more than anything… stay tuned for the build.

Master bedroom… or dumping grounds… either way… it needs love… lots of it.

As you continue reading… you’ll find that renovations is one thing… cleaning up all the junk…
completely different story.

Phew…done clearing the space.

With all the furniture and junk out of the way… the carpet was bare and not looking too good.
All the areas of carpet near the windows and doors suffered UV degradation and discolouring.

Yup… I couldn’t stand it and convinced my parents to drop some coin on hardwood.

First major section of carpet… out.

Carpet and underlay out… it’s pretty heavy stuff.

Baseboards out….

After the removing everything… I had the chance to assess the subfloor… there was a section
where two panels met that bowed up… good eye how… so lines were snapped and it was ready to be cut out.

Close up of the bump.

So I finally got around to clearing the closet… thanks Tiff.

The closet suffered a bit of water damage due to an open tap on the upstairs bathroom…
This was how it looked after stripping all the taping and flakey paint off.

Mudded up… taping corners is an art that I am not talented at.

Took my mom to shop for flooring… sweet dude.

Remember that section of subfloor… yup… gone.

I really wanted to shoot the builders when I saw this… they just hacked at the joists.
This did not allow for the subfloor to be nailed down properly… resulting in squeaking.

A new 2 x 4 section fitted in… also… I had to sand the entire 14′ section of joists to ensure
a flat level surface… and popped 1200 screws into the subfloor.  Until the next post…
I promise it won’t be a month later.
